Dr. Lukas Kawalilak graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013.
Following receiving his veterinary medicine degree, he spent two years at Washington State University completing a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery followed by a small animal radiology internship.
He completed a veterinary diagnostic imaging residency in 2018 that included training at both the Michigan State University and Colorado State University. Thereafter, he successfully completed board certification in Veterinary Radiology in 2018. He continued as an assistant professor at Colorado State University until he decided to move back home to the Edmonton area.
Dr. Lukas Kawalilak has a professional interest in abdominal ultrasound and investigated its use in determining normal renal size in neonatal dogs.
He is looking forward to working with the referral community as the first veterinary radiologist in Northern Alberta.
